Irvine, CA (June 30, 2025) – The Orange County Community Foundation (OCCF) is thrilled to announce the appointment of Brian Schaefgen as its new Chief Financial Officer. With over 30 years of expertise in finance, Schaefgen brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that will be instrumental in driving OCCF’s growth and impact as one of the nation’s largest and most innovative community foundations.

Schaefgen comes to OCCF with a distinguished career in finance, including more than two decades serving as CFO for both private and publicly traded enterprises. His extensive background encompasses finance, reporting, capital markets, treasury, risk management, and strategic planning. In addition to his professional roles, Schaefgen has contributed significantly to numerous nonprofits as a board member, treasurer, and committee member for organizations such as ForKids, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County, and Families Forward. His leadership and financial acumen will play a crucial role in advancing OCCF’s strategic goals and enhancing its financial stewardship.

Schaefgen received his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame and completed advanced studies in financial planning at the University of California, Irvine. Additionally, he is a Certified Public Accountant and a licensed real estate broker in California.
