OCCF’s Collaborative Giving Days use an online giving model to match local donors to Orange County nonprofits with shared missions – from homelessness and workforce development to preserving ecosystems and supporting local veterans – to create momentum on a single shared day and leverage combined outreach efforts.

OCCF’s Collaborative Giving Days are an opportunity for nonprofits impacting Orange County for good to raise awareness through a collective online campaign around areas of need in the community. Participating nonprofits will have an opportunity over the three-months leading up to their Giving Day to grow in their online campaigning skills through training, peer support, and tools provided.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Giving Day?

OCCF’s Collaborative Giving Days are an opportunity for nonprofits impacting Orange County for good to raise awareness through a collective online campaign around areas of need in the community.

What are the requirements for participating in a Giving Day?

All nonprofits interested in participating in a Giving Day must first have an approved OC Nonprofit Central Profile. More details can be found here.
NOTE: Must be submitted for reverification and approval annually.
Interested nonprofits must be in good standing with the IRS:
  • As part of our due diligence for participation in a Giving Day and Nonprofit Central, we audit for compliance with California AB 488.  Your organization must be in compliance with AB 488 to participate.
  • The RRF-1 form is required to be registered with the Attorney General’s office for every CA based charitable nonprofit corporation, unincorporated association or trustee holding assets for charitable purposes. This is needed to have your profile viewable and accept donations on Nonprofit Central and a Giving Day. More information here.
  • For further assistance on renewals, here are a couple of ways for you to contact the CA Attorney General’s office:
    • (800) 952-5225
Participating nonprofits must have a dedicated staff member to be a point person .
  • Participating nonprofits will have an opportunity over the three-months leading up to their Giving Day to grow in their online campaigning skills through training, peer support, and tools provided. Your point person will be in communication with the Giving Day’s steering committee and lead to ensure that everything for your organization is ready to go.
If approved, participating nonprofits must have an agreement form signed.
  • Your steering committee will provide you with an agreement form that requires signature from your executive director, a board member, and your dedicated point person.

How are Giving Days collaborative?

OCCF’s Collaborative Giving Days use an online giving model to match local donors to Orange County nonprofits with shared missions – from homelessness and workforce development to preserving ecosystems and supporting local veterans – to create momentum on a single shared day and leverage combined outreach efforts.
Collaboration is seen through shared exposure on social media (e.g. tagging one another on postsvideos and other media done together with other organizations) and sharing the landing page for the Giving Day. Depending on your steering committee and peers, collaboration can go beyond the internet but is not required.

Are Giving Days only online efforts?

All donations and promotions are done primarily online.
Offline donations may be received by your organizations and inputted into the GivSum system as an offline donation. Some organizations also host in-person events to drive engagement to the Giving Day.

What online platform do you use?

We are happy to announce that beginning the 2026 Giving Day season, we will be utilizing GivSum for our OC Nonprofit Central and Giving Day Campaigns.

How can I join the steering committee for my Giving Day?

If you are interested in being a part of the steering committee for your Giving Day, contact us at givingdays@oc-cf.org for more information.

Can I propose a new Giving Day?

A Giving Day requires a minimum of 3 nonprofit organizations to form a steering committee, 1 steering committee lead, and 5 participating organizations.
f you would like to propose a new Giving Day, please email givingdays@oc-cf.org with your proposal including the information of who is participating and in what role, the need your organizations are addressing in Orange County, and the collaborative goal you would set.
