Dr. Manuel Gomez Ph.D.

Dr. Manuel N. Gómez is a highly respected community leader who has over three decades of experience in the education sector. He joined the OCCF Board of Governors in 2010 after retiring from a 38-year career at the University of California, Irvine, where he most recently served as Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs. During his tenure, Dr. Gómez founded the UCI Center for Educational Partnerships, which aims to prepare students for success in higher education. He is also the founder of the Dalai Lama Scholars Program. He has contributed his expertise to a number of state, national and international education initiatives. Dr. Gómez holds a Ph.D. in higher education policy and organization from the University of Southern California, a master’s in social ecology from UC Irvine and a bachelor’s in history from California State University, Hayward.
