Shelley Hoss

With more than 21 years of experience as a nonprofit executive, Shelley Hoss has served as president of the Orange County Community Foundation for eight years. She works with the Board of Governors to oversee the mission and direction of the community foundation and also works with donors to help them make a strategic impact with their giving. Prior to joining OCCF, Shelley served for four years as the executive director of Girls Incorporated of Orange County and worked for ten years at the Orangewood Children’s Foundation. She has chaired a variety of committees and is a member of the Council on Foundations, League of California Community Foundations, and Southern California Grantmakers. She is a Phi Beta Kappa scholar with a joint Master’s Degree in Business and Public Administration from the University of California, Irvine.

As the welcoming face of the Orange County Community Foundation, Anne Leinart is responsible for managing the front office, which keeps the organization running smoothly. She also assists President Shelley Hoss. Anne previously worked five years in the mortgage industry where she built and managed client relationships. She earned a bachelor’s degree in child development from San Diego State University.

Tracy Branson is responsible for managing the accounting of the Orange County Community Foundation’s more than $120 million in assets. She oversees the foundation’s management and financial reporting, including quarterly statements for donor-advised funds. Before joining OCCF in 1991, Tracy was an auditor with Ernst & Young for nine years. She graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles, and is a Certified Public Accountant. Tracy is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Diane Cleary joined the Orange County Community Foundation family with an extensive accounting background in the real estate industry. Diane has served as a senior accountant for companies such as D.R. Horton and Classic Pacific Homes, where she was responsible for supervising staff and overseeing a variety of projects. At the Orange County Community Foundation, she is responsible for general accounting and finance tasks relevant to daily operations. Diane holds a B.A. degree in finance from California State University, Northridge.

Dan Ball brings to the Orange County Community Foundation seven years of experience in accounting and more than eight years working in the field of commercial property management. Dan is responsible for the processing of grants, scholarships, and operating disbursements, as well as assisting with cash receipts.

With the Orange County Community Foundation since 1996, Joanne Udell handles human resources, internal operations and processes donor stock gifts. She acquired an HR Management Certificate from the University of California, Irvine in 2002 and became a member of the Irvine Police and Fire Authority’s Community Emergency Response Team in 2006.

With more than 11 years of experience in the nonprofit field, Patricia Benevenia provides project management assistance to the Executive and the Finance and Administration departments. As a front-line resource, she is responsible for coordinating committee meetings and communications for the Board of Governors. In addition, she processes and acknowledges all incoming donations. Patricia holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from California State University, Fullerton.

A licensed attorney, and a Certified Specialist in Planned Giving recognized by the American Institute of Philanthropic Studies, Steve Marken counsels donors and their professional advisors in exploring tax-wise charitable giving options. Prior to joining the community foundation, Steve practiced law for seven years and worked for Pacific Life and ING Advisors assisting the top financial advisors throughout the country with sophisticated financial and estate plans.

Roland Ho works with donors and their professional advisors to develop gift plans that maximize their tax benefits and charitable goals. He also works with nonprofit agencies to develop gift plans for their donors. Prior to joining the development department, Roland spent six years assisting donors with their philanthropic goals through scholarships and donor-advised fund granting. He is a graduate of the University of California, Irvine.

Jodi Lieberman is the charitable gift planning assistant at the Orange County Community Foundation. She supports the Gift Planning Department in drafting fund agreements and interacts with donors, professional advisors and community leaders. A seasoned community volunteer, Jodi’s experience includes a rich history in community philanthropy and relevant work, particularly with the Jewish Community Center and the Jewish Federation. Jodi holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.

An invaluable resource for donors and nonprofits alike, Todd Hanson is vice president of donor relations and programs at the Orange County Community Foundation. He helps donors by developing personalized giving plans, arranging agency tours, organizing presentations on community issues and providing research reports on nonprofits. He visits more than 100 local charities each year to stay informed on the latest programs, services and results. He has more than 15 years of experience in nonprofits, including seven years at OCCF, and is the former executive director of Camp Fire USA in Orange County. He is a graduate of California State University, Fullerton.

Karen Francis, MSW, holds a master’s degree in social work with an emphasis in administration, policy, and planning from UCLA. Her education has led to more than a decade of successful work in developing nonprofits. At OCCF, she focuses on getting to know the needs of nonprofits and the community, and works with donors who care about making a difference. She previously worked for the Children’s Bureau of Los Angeles, Cedar Sinai Medical Center, the House of Blues Foundation, and the Milken Family Foundation. Karen has volunteered for the Community Service Programs Youth Shelter, the Wellness Community in Santa Monica, and Project Access, among others.

Claudia Montesano is a program associate at the Orange County Community Foundation. She facilitates the scholarship application process and acts as a liaison on behalf of OCCF’s many donors. She joined the Donor Relations and Programs team in July 2007 upon completing an internship with the department. Claudia received her bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of California, Irvine.

Rachel Hansen joined the Orange County Community Foundation after graduating in May 2007 from Chapman University with a degree in Public Relations and Advertising. Following her experience as an OCCF intern, Rachel Hansen was hired as a full time assistant in the program department where she provides administrative support for granting and program activities, donor relations and other special projects. She has always had a passion for philanthropy and looks forward to learning more about the numerous nonprofit organizations and the good they do in Orange County.

Cynthia Ragland, APR, brings 14 years of business communications experience to the community foundation. She has architected strategic marketing campaigns that consistently generate results and positively impact an organization's reach in the communities it serves. She previously served as principal of an independent marketing firm and led a million-dollar brand management team at neoBrands/Shafer Advertising & Public Relations. She also managed external communications for the $16 billion initial public offering for Ingram Micro, Inc. She has an MBA from Pepperdine University and a bachelor's degree in communications from California State University, Fullerton.

Beth Henshaw joined the Orange County Community Foundation in 2001 and works closely with the director of marketing. She manages the successful Ambassador Program, the OCCF Web site, and has a hand in developing and producing collateral materials such as the annual report. Beth also provides logistical support for events, including the development and execution of the annual meeting.

Ashley Munger joined OCCF in July 2007. She provides support to the marketing department by writing press releases and other publicity materials, maintaining media contacts, and assisting with Web site updates and reports. Ashley comes to OCCF with a rich background in nonprofit, volunteer, and public relations work. She is an active member of Rotary International, and has volunteered her time and expertise to Big Brothers Big Sisters and Girls, Inc. Ashley received her bachelor’s degree in global studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Carolyn Yi comes to the Orange County Community Foundation as a third year college student at the University of California, Irvine. At OCCF, Carolyn assists the Marketing Department with administrative support that includes compiling and managing media clippings, updating media contact lists, organizing files, assisting with meeting logistics, and providing creative input on a variety of marketing and public relations tactics.
